PRIDE

Pride, one word which coach always tells me it is the most important, for a player. A person can be bought over by money due of greed and desire. Pride and resolve of someone is something that nth can buy. Different is that which is stronger. And this will be tested through life. Some people gives in, while some holds onto their pride and keep going. Never to back off!

Action through emotions are for people who dun use their brains. Whereas action after thoughts are people with strong pride and intelligence. I am glad, my pride has not given way to my emotions and anger. because I shouldn't even be angry from the start. Basically just cuz, we are in a totally different league. =)

If u dunno our difference, learn to respect others first. If u dun even have this basic, forget ur pride, because there is no way u can understand what is pride! =) People who only resorts to violence, i pity you. Because nv in ur life will u understand what is pride too. U will only become someone, who will never be respected forever.

Perhaps the way i phrase it, its difficult to understand, but its fine, I understand deep in for me its the most important. =)

Student and Coach…

19 year old Tan Peng Rui lives his life playing many roles. A Temasek Polytechnic engineering student, a basketball player and also a basketball coach.

Peng Rui has been playing basketball since the age of 5, unlike many kids who will get bored of a sport easily, his passion and love for basketball has only been on the climb over the years. With Peng Rui’s experience in basketball it was an easy task for him to get to play for Bedok North secondary school’s school team adding on to his experience on this court based strategy game.

In year 2007, with his experience in playing the sport, Peng Rui moves on to the next stage of his basketball life, being a coach. Due to his passion for basketball and believe that chances should be given to all that love the sport, he formed a team generally made up of Saint Hilda’s and Damai Secondary School students as their schools do not have basketball as a CCA. Peng Rui named the team SOUL Basketball Club aka Soul BC in hope that members of his team shares his passion and love for basketball.

Strategising…

Peng Rui’s efforts paid off as his team participated in the Community Basketball League organized by United World College and under his coaching they nailed Community Basketball League Under 14 boys 2nd runner up & Under 16 boys 2nd runner up in year 2007 and 2008.

When asked what are his plans being a coach in future, Peng Rui replied in humble tone, saying “I am lacking in experience in coaching compared to other coaches and still have more to learn”.

From the interview, I could also tell the bond between him and his team “I work hand in hand with the boys, as their coach, elder brother, friend.” I provide the listening ear. As our age gap is minimal, it is an advantage in communication for me.”

And what’s his secret to balancing his school life and basketball? Setting a strict timetable and sticking to it “study hard on weekdays and sports on weekends”. All sportsmen should model themselves after his example; to be passionate but still be a well-rounded achiever; in both sports and studies alike.

What i have learn this past years of relationships, isn't to avoid trusting and go into another relationship. but take the time to know that person more than to rush into it. Holding onto a relationship that has ended doesn't help to mend that relationship. Holding on to that someone in ur heart, when he/she doesn't care about u any longer makes u feel more hurt.

therefore, move on in your life and enjoy being with your best group of Brothers/sisters/friends. not letting someone who hurts u to makes u think that u are not good enough for him/her. because its their loss for not treasuring us.

for those who had just been hurt or still holding on to that someone deep in your heart, move on by keeping the shared memories u have deep in ur heart, and move on in ur life. spend ur time, with friends or doing ur favourite hobby.

Because no one should makes us sad as we have the right to be happy always =)
